The role of the school’s principal is to support your teachers, school counsellors and other survey administrators to administer the MDI in your school and guide your students through the survey. Your role is critical to the success of the MDI.
Here you will find step-by-step instructions and all the resources you will need to administer the MDI in your school. Your MDI Lead is also available to support you in this process.
HELP’s role is one of consultant and guide. We provide ongoing support and resources to ensure smooth implementation of the MDI and dissemination of results.
STEP 1: Book Computer Lab for MDI Administration (survey administration is in Jan/mdi-March).
STEP 2: Share Survey Administrator Checklist and Teacher/Administrator Letter with teachers administrating the MDI with their students.
STEP 3: Send Parent Information Letters home mid-December the latest (at least 2 weeks before survey administration, not including the winter break).
Use the letters provided by your District
STEP 4: Attend an optional training webinar hosted by HELP on Thur, January 9, 2025 at 3:15PM (PST). A recording of the webinar is available here.
STEP 5: Send an MDI Reminder: We recommend that you distribute the MDI Questions Brief to parents in January as a reminder of upcoming MDI administration. The MDI Questions Brief serves as a reminder that the MDI is taking place in the schools and gives parents more information about the MDI.
STEP 6: Review MDI Instructional Survey (depending on what grade your school district/board is doing: Grade 4, 5, 6, 7 and/or 8) and Administration Guide and distribute to teachers.
STEP 7: Set up your password and log into the eMDI website once you receive your login instructions (this is shared in early Jan).
STEP 8: Watch MDI Survey Administration Training Video (~ 5 minutes).
STEP 9: Review your Class Lists and add/delete students as necessary before the Survey Administration (See MDI Administration Guide for detailed instructions).
STEP 10: Administer the MDI: Students complete the survey online.
STEP 11: You did it! Thank you!! Let us know how it went by completing the MDI Feedback Survey.
