Dr. Eva Oberle, scientific lead for the Middle Years Development Instrument (MDI), and others from the MDI team, share highlights from the 2022-23 MDI data collection of over 47,000 children in grades 4 through 8 in BC. The webinar reviews trends in children’s well-being over the last 5 years, from before and during the COVID pandemic, and their answers to some new questions on the MDI — including climate concerns and social media use. For the first time, research exploring gender differences on some MDI measures is discussed.
The webinar also offers a brief tour of the MDI Data Dashboard – a new online, interactive resource that provides access to MDI data maps and trends over the last 5 years at the School District and neighbourhood level.
